HIPAA security, in plain terms
The HIPAA Security Rule requires covered entities to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of electronic protected health information. In practice, that means performing a risk analysis, putting safeguards in place, training staff, controlling access, and having business associate agreements with vendors who handle patient data. It also means being able to show what you have done if a patient complaint, audit, or breach brings questions.
We help practices build that foundation: managed and encrypted workstations, multi-factor authentication, secure email, access controls, logging, and tested backups. We also help you document your safeguards so your HIPAA program reflects what is actually happening in the office, not a binder that has not been opened in years. Where your EHR or imaging vendor controls part of the environment, we coordinate with them so responsibilities are clear.
