Technology competence is part of the job
The ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, adopted in some form by most states, expect lawyers to understand the benefits and risks of the technology they use and to make reasonable efforts to prevent unauthorized disclosure of client information. That does not mean every partner needs to be an IT expert. It does mean the firm needs a sound approach to security, access, and data handling that it can explain if asked.
We help firms put that approach in place: multi-factor authentication, managed and encrypted devices, secure email, controlled access to matter files, and backups that can actually be restored. We document what is in place so firm leadership can answer client questionnaires and ethics questions with confidence instead of guesswork. Security is set up to fit how attorneys actually work, so protection does not get in the way of client service.
