Security & Compliance

Attackers do not take nights and weekends off. Your security cannot either.

Antivirus and a firewall are no longer enough on their own. We build layered defenses around your people, devices, and data, and we watch them around the clock so threats are caught before they become a crisis.

Sound familiar?

You probably need this if…

  • Your security plan is antivirus software and hoping for the best
  • Employees have received convincing phishing emails, and some have clicked
  • Multi-factor authentication is not turned on for every account
  • You do not know who would respond, or how, if you were hit with ransomware tonight
  • A client, insurer, or regulator has started asking security questions you cannot answer

Why small businesses are a target

Many owners assume attackers only go after large corporations. In practice, smaller businesses are attractive precisely because they tend to have fewer defenses, no dedicated security staff, and valuable data such as client records, banking access, and email accounts that can be used to defraud partners. Most attacks are automated and opportunistic. They are not looking for you specifically. They are looking for anyone with an unpatched system or a reused password.

The most common entry points are not exotic. They are phishing emails that steal passwords, remote access left exposed to the internet, missing updates, and accounts without multi-factor authentication. Business email compromise, where an attacker quietly reads your mailbox and then sends a fake wire request, can cost a business dearly without a single piece of malware being installed. Closing these common gaps does more to reduce risk than any single expensive product.

Layered defense: no single tool is enough

Good security works in layers, so that if one control fails, another catches the problem. That starts with identity: multi-factor authentication on every account, strong password practices, and prompt removal of access when people leave. It continues with endpoint protection that looks for suspicious behavior, not just known viruses, plus email filtering that blocks malicious links and impersonation attempts before they reach an inbox.

The next layers protect the network and the data. Properly configured firewalls, segmented networks so a compromised device cannot reach everything, encryption on laptops, and backups that attackers cannot reach or delete. None of these is complicated on its own. The challenge for most businesses is applying all of them consistently and keeping them current as the business changes, as new employees join, new devices are added, and new cloud services are adopted.

People are a layer too. Security awareness training and simulated phishing exercises help employees recognize the tricks attackers use. The goal is not to shame anyone who clicks. It is to build a culture where people pause, ask questions, and report suspicious messages quickly, which is often the difference between a near miss and a breach. Training works best when it is short, regular, and relevant to the scams your industry actually sees.

Monitoring and response, around the clock

Prevention matters, but no defense stops everything. What separates a contained incident from a disaster is how quickly someone notices and acts. Our monitoring watches for warning signs such as unusual sign-ins, disabled security tools, or a device suddenly encrypting files, at any hour, and escalates to people who can investigate and respond. Alerts are only useful if someone is actually watching them and knows what to do next.

When an incident happens, our team includes GCIR-certified incident responders who know how to contain the threat, preserve evidence, and work with your cyber insurance carrier and legal counsel. We help you understand what happened, what was affected, and what to change so it does not happen again. Having that expertise lined up before an incident means you are not searching for help in the middle of one.

We usually begin with an exposure assessment. We review your environment for vulnerabilities, gaps in account security, and backup and recovery readiness, then give you a clear, prioritized list of what to fix first. It is a practical starting point whether you work with us long term or not. Many businesses find that a handful of targeted fixes close most of their exposure.

Frequently asked questions

We already have antivirus. Isn't that enough?

Traditional antivirus looks for known malicious files. Many modern attacks use stolen passwords or legitimate tools that antivirus will not flag. Layered security, including multi-factor authentication, behavior-based endpoint protection, email security, and active monitoring, closes the gaps that antivirus alone leaves open.

What does the exposure assessment involve?

We review your environment for vulnerabilities, account and access weaknesses, and backup and recovery readiness. You receive a clear, prioritized list of findings with plain-language explanations. It is complimentary for qualified businesses and carries no obligation.

Can you help with our cyber insurance application?

Yes. Insurers increasingly ask detailed questions about controls such as MFA, backups, and endpoint protection. We help you understand what is being asked, put the right controls in place, and answer accurately.

What happens if we get hit with ransomware?

Our incident response team works to contain the threat, isolate affected systems, preserve evidence, and coordinate with your insurer and counsel. Recovery then depends on having good, protected backups, which is why we treat backup and recovery as part of security, not a separate topic.
